If I’m Lucky (1946)

Desperate for money, a swing band led by Earl Gordon (Harry James) gets a job working for a political campaign, playing at rallies for the candidate, Darius J. Magonnagle (Edgar Buchanan). Political managers, however, decide that the band’s charming singer, Allen Clark (Perry Como), would make a better candidate. Clark plays along, but as the election nears, he decides he’s had enough of politics. The operatives who roped him in, however, are not about to let him go easily
